Temporal Echo - an immersive response to place and time

Temporal Echo - an immersive response to place and time is an exhibition by Queensland artist Sharon Roberts.

Known for her lyrical multilayered paintings and nuanced colour, Sharon expresses a contemplative response to place and time. Her diverse body of work includes poetry, photography and physical expression, yet painting is her primary creative discipline. Her places and process are metaphors for a spiritual journey and inspired by her experience of the natural world.

“A sketch near a lagoon in outback Queensland, and a limited palette of paints carried five thousand kilometres as part of my 'studio in a box', marked the beginning of Temporal Echo.  When I paused, lingered and drew, I had no intent for a further direction – just noticing and drawing in that moment; at that place.”

“I also photographed, wrote, made sound recordings, and did a lot of quiet watching and listening.  On returning to my studio I reflected on the fragments and memories I had gathered and slowly the work expanded to become the current exhibition.”

Temporal Echo comprises painting, photography, poetry and sound, and is showing until Sunday 6 April, 2025.
